Unique Formula
Each Maxani skin shampoo is unique and tailored to the specific needs of the pet with skin problems. We call it a skin shampoo because these shampoos contain a unique combination of ingredients that cleanse and nourish the skin and coat, like a body lotion. Our skin shampoos are packed with active and exclusive ingredients. All ingredients are safe and we use as little perfume, alcohol and other irritating chemicals and fragrances as possible. For example, we use Sinodor®, a powerful and animal-friendly ingredient that removes odors rather than just masking them. This eliminates the need for perfume or other irritating fragrances, which is very pleasant for the animal. Our skin shampoos must meet high quality standards and to ensure this, all Maxani skin shampoos are developed and produced in the Netherlands.
Maxani skin shampoos address important aspects to restore the defective skin barrier. When the skin barrier is disrupted, dogs can develop symptoms more quickly. This causes increased exposure to allergens, pathogens and toxins. Microbes attach more easily to the skin and there is increased epidermal water loss (TEWL). In animals with skin problems, mainly in atopic dermatitis, almost all aspects of the skin are affected. The shedding may be accelerated or delayed (flaking or not), the immune system is not working properly, the skin flora is out of balance and the acidity of the skin is higher, so secondary skin infections are lurking. It is important to repair these affected aspects and this can be done mostly from the outside with the Maxani skin shampoos.
Maxani skin shampoos are effective in cleaning the coat and skin without greatly drying out the skin. Maxani skin shampoos contain important combinations of emollients (e.g. oils or lipids) and humectants (moisture binders) for this purpose. This strengthens, moisturizes and thus protects the skin barrier of the animal with skin problems. Maxani skin shampoos are thus enriched with skin barrier-repairing and protective lipids derived from SK-influx® V. This unique complex of lipids, consisting of ceramides, cholesterol and free fatty acids, also occurs naturally in dog and cat skin. The right ratio of lipids is essential for proper absorption of lipids into the skin. A damaged skin barrier, such as from atopic dermatitis or seborrhea, recovers most quickly by applying ceramides or fatty acids directly topically. Phytosphingosine occurs naturally in the stratum corneum. The addition of phytospingosine protects the skin barrier and has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects. Phytosphingosine is required for several cellular processes, including cell differentiation.
With a weakened skin barrier, the skin loses a lot of moisture, causing the skin to dry out and itch. All Maxani skin shampoos contain humectants such as hyaluronic acid to restore moisture and elasticity to the skin. Hyaluronic acid and honey, along with panthenol, also care for dry and dull coats. Honey contributes to good microflora and helps reduce itching and flaking, due to the vitamins and minerals it contains. In addition, each Maxani skin shampoo contains unique ingredients adapted to the specific needs of the pet with a skin problem.
