Maxani Acetic Ear Drops (Acid Ear Drops)

Acid ear drops inhibit itching and swelling in an ear infection. The use of acid ear drops is a nice alternative in view of antibiotic resistance. Acid ear drops were developed by pharmacists. The KNMvD's guideline "Otitis externa in the dog and cat" (2015) describes that, especially for dogs with chronic recurrent proliferative otitis externa, this new method of treatment can be considered. Acid ear drops (with and without corticosteroids) have long been used humanely as a first choice in humans with otitis externa and in those who swim or dive frequently and are so advised for dogs as well.

Indications

Acute and proliferative otitis externa or as a maintenance product in chronic recurrent otitis externa and dogs that swim a lot.

Operation

The active ingredient acetic acid lowers the pH in the external ear canal, creating an unfavorable environment for unwanted microorganisms. It is an appropriate maintenance product, helps quickly and ensures healthy ears.

Use

Voor gebruik eerst een dierenarts raadplegen en het voorgeschreven gebruik volgen. De gebruikelijke dosering bij een geïrriteerd oor is 1-3 keer per dag 5 tot 20 druppels, afhankelijk van de grootte van het dier, rechtstreeks in het te behandelen oor. Doorgaans voor een kleine hond (<10kg) een kwart pipet (5-10 druppels) per oor toedienen en voor een grotere hond (>10kg) ½ pipet (10- 20 druppels) per oor. Voor onderhoud is de gebruikelijke dosis 1-3 keer per week, en voor honden die veel last hebben door het zwemmen, is het aan te raden voor of na het zwemmen te behandelen.

Make sure the ear drops are at room temperature before you administer them, such as by warming the bottle in your hand. After administration, it is important to keep a hand on the ear for about 2 minutes to allow the drops to spread evenly in the ear canal. Shaking the cup is not a problem after this. Avoid massaging the ear.
