Miriam's story: moving forward together in animal health

What began as a personal loss grew into a mission that now touches thousands of veterinarians, animals and owners. My name is Miriam Wind, founder of Maxani Animal Healthcare. We are now more than 13 years on, and every day I am still grateful for the path we are on - together with veterinarians and specialists at home and abroad.

A personal loss, a clear mission

The occasion for Maxani was anything but business. It was painful. A dear friend lost her life to a resistant bacterium. That loss touched me deeply - and made me think. If this can happen in humans, what about in veterinary medicine? How can we prevent antibiotics from losing their power?

That became my driving force. Not an ambition to become big, but a strong desire to mean something. To contribute to awareness and better choices - also in veterinary medicine. So that we become less dependent on antibiotics while improving animal health in a responsible way.

From a single bottle to a wide range

In February 2012, I had the opportunity to represent Masivet, a drug for mast cell tumors. During that time, I got into a conversation with a veterinary dermatologist who talked about his search for alternatives to antibiotics. He even made his own acid ear drops to avoid antibiotics. That stuck with me.

With my background in magistral formulation, I developed an alternative: Acetic Eardrops. Our first product. I remember exactly how it felt when the first box was delivered. Simple, small - but with great meaning. From that moment the growth began.

Vets asked questions. One question led to the next idea. In close cooperation with professionals and manufacturers in the Netherlands and Belgium, our range has now grown to become the largest in the field of topical dermatology for companion animals in the Netherlands.

More than products: a shared responsibility

At Maxani, it's not about volume sales. It's about trust, effectiveness and accountability. We believe that topical products - when properly formulated - can make a huge difference. Not just for the animal, but for the bigger picture. Every antibiotic treatment that is not needed counts in the fight against resistance.

That's why our products are always thoughtfully formulated: with high-quality

Thinking sustainably, acting locally

We consciously choose local production: 95% of our products are made in the Netherlands or Belgium. Raw materials and packaging are sourced locally wherever possible. Not because it is easy, but because it is better - for the environment and for the reliability of our chain.

Our products have a luxurious appearance, but above all they are designed with sustainability in mind. We aim for the lowest possible carbon footprint, without compromising on quality or efficacy.

Together you will get further

What makes Maxani special is not only what we do, but with whom we do it. So many vets, specialists and colleagues who think, test, adjust and share their knowledge. Without them we would never have reached where we are today.

Together we have developed a wide range of products that really make a difference: for skin problems, ear problems, wound care and more. Products that work well, are easy to apply and help reduce antibiotic use.

The future: locally rooted, globally relevant

Our focus is forward. We remain committed to improving animal health while contributing to public health. We continue to invest in knowledge, innovation and cooperation. Our ambition is clear: to be a reliable and progressive partner for veterinarians - here and abroad.

Act local, think global. That's how we work. And that's how we continue to build something bigger than ourselves.

Thank you

When I look back on the past over 13 years, above all, I feel gratitude. For the trust of veterinarians. For the dedication of my colleagues. And for the animals we may indirectly help.

We still have much to do. But we are moving forward - together.
